A couple of years ago, at the end of the first segment of my Ayurveda workshop an overwhelmed student say’s “so you’re telling me I have to start eating this and that and stop eating that and this and…” I replied “Yes, if you want to set yourself up for failure that’s exactly what you need to do. But if you want to set yourself up for success wait for the second segment of my presentation when I teach an auspicious process. ”
Auspicious: The Word
Defined as conducive to success, auspiciousness is about creating favorable environments. It reminds us that it’s not what we do or even how it turns out that makes something auspicious, it’s rather how we do it and how we perceive our experiences.
“Success is liking yourself. Liking what you do and liking how you do it.”
Calling on the Feeling
As self-care practices Yoga and Ayurveda are about creating auspicious physical, mental, emotional and spiritual environments. To achieve this experience, we use a variety of practices including calling on positive feelings.
Imagining that something terrible will happen creates the feeling of worry and once we have a feeling we have a belief. In the case of worry, the belief leads to contraction of body and mind and reduces energy and creativity. Fortunately, we can do the same thing we do with worry with auspiciousness. Imagining auspicious transitions and results leads to mental expansion, curiosity and creativity. We can also choose to see, hear and speak what is auspicious which with practice creates the feeling of auspiciousness and eventually it becomes a belief and therefore, what we naturally see, hear, feel and speak.
Let’s Do It
This year, let’s set ourselves up for success. If you, like me, have an area of your life that needs auspiciousness; Let's imagine and feel the success. Let's be aware of the transition towards the goal and see the transition as part of the successful outcome. Then, let's create and follow an auspicious path.

The Ripple Effect
Plus, if we fuel the inner feeling of auspiciousness it becomes part of our life
which means we see, hear, feel and speak it with those we share our life with.
So, whether your aspiration for 2019 is material, spiritual or both, may it be auspicious! Sylvie
