Did you know that:


- 4 grams of sugar equals 1 teaspoon of sugar;

- It's not uncommon for a drink to have 34 grams of sugar. That equals 8.5 teaspoons of sugar in one drink;

- Depending on the source it's estimated that the average Canadian consumes 13 to 26 teaspoons of sugar per day. To put it another way, Canadians eat about 110 pounds of sugar per year;

- Sugar has no essential nutrients. ZERO;

- In light of it's effect on our hormones and brain sugar has a unique fat promoting effect;

- In light of the dopamine effect, sugar is addictive;

- Sugar intake is associated with the onset of many illnesses, fatigue, restlessness and ageing negatively; and

- Most importantly, WE have the power to reduce - maybe even quit. 


How to reduce sugar: 


- Hydrate with water;

- Start your day with something tart. Example includes warm water with lemon or lime;

- Read labels and put things back on the shelf;

- Know the difference between food and foodless food (garbage disguised as food) and choose food;

-  Exercise and get fresh air daily;

- Start now, not tomorrow and be willing to start over;

- Enjoy fruits - berries are great; and

- Get one-on-one coaching or join a sugar detox group for support.
